Great Britain Men will play two warm-up games against Netherlands in April ahead of the 2014 World Championship (Division 1B) in Lithuania.
GB will go head-to-head with their World Championship opponents on Saturday 12th April 2014 at Ice Sheffield (7:30pm) and Sunday 13th April at Coventry’s Skydome Arena (5:15pm).
Tickets for these two showpiece matches will go on sale on Wednesday (4th December 2013) at 10am.
There are only two places separating the two sides in the IIHF world ranking with GB in 22nd and Netherlands in 24th, so they are sure to be two fantastic and close-fought encounters.
Great Britain last met the Netherlands in April 2011 and won back-to-back matches. A 5-2 win at the National Ice Centre was followed by 7-2 win in the Hull Arena.
General manager, Andy Buxton, said: “It’s fantastic that the Great Britain team are going to have the chance to play full international fixtures on home ice again.
We hope that ice hockey fans will take advantage of this chance to see the team in action ahead of the World Championship.
“In international hockey terms, these games have been arranged at quite short notice and we are very pleased that the Netherlands Ice Hockey Federation has also seen this as a valuable part of their tournament preparation.
“There are only two places separating us in the world rankings and we will be facing each other in Lithuania in the Worlds shortly after, so will no doubt be two entertaining and competitive games.
“I’m determined to give the players and coaching staff the best chance to prepare for the World Championship and these games will play a big part in that.”
