Great Britain Women U18 defeated twice but show signs of improvement

Great Britain Women U18 have lost their opening two games at the World Championship (Division 1B) tournament in Poland.

GB were defeated 6-1 by Denmark in their opening match and followed up with a 2-0 reverse against France.

Emily Harris grabbed GB’s only goal of the tournament so far, but assistant coach James Ashton was pleased with the improvement shown from the first to the second game.

“The girls can be very proud of that performance – the way we matched the top-seeded team in the tournament,” he said.

“We created some good scoring chances and I felt we were much tighter at the back than Saturday.

“Of course it is a shame not to win, but that performance will do so much for us down the stretch at this tournament.

“The girls can hold their heads high and be happy with a lot of what they did out there.”

GB return to action on Tuesday against Australia (7.00pm UK time).
