Korea U20 defeat Great Britain but promotion dream is still alive

Great Britain U20 were beaten for the first time at the World Championship (Division 2A) tournament in Dumfries as they lost 5-4 to Korea after a penalty shoot-out.

However, GB will be guaranteed promotion to Division 1B if they beat Japan in their final game on Saturday (8.00pm)

A three-point regulation win or a two-point overtime or penalty-shot victory will be enough to see Britain claim top spot.

Liam Kirk (2), Cole Shudra and Sam Duggan got GB’s goals in regulation time, but after a goalless overtime period Kwanyong Park scored the winning penalty shot for Korea.

Japan now lead the table with 11 points after four games, with GB in second place on 10.
