More joy for Dundee as young Stars secure U15 title in Coventry

Dundee Stars Juniors continued their remarkable run of success by winning the U15 title at the Coventry Blaze Academy tournament over the weekend.

The Stars won the event at U13 level last year, but they were expected to find things tougher this time around with their roster including nine players from the club’s double-winning U14 side.

However, Dundee defeated teams from Coventry, Telford, Ireland and Solihull in the round robin without conceding a goal to book their place in the last four.

Ireland made things difficult in the semi-final, but the young Stars triumphed 2-0 to progress to the final.

Dundee opened up a two-goal lead against Coventry in the final, but the hosts battled back to send the game to sudden death overtime.

Neither side could find a goal in the extra session, so the game went to a penalty shoot-out.

After several missed attempts from both sides Jamie Edmonds scored for Dundee. Netminder Liam Griffin denied Coventry on their next shot to seal the win.

Dundee’s Ben Brown was voted forward of the tournament.
