Scottish-based trio selected for Great Britain Women U18 squad

Great Britain U18 head coach Cheryl Smith has named three Scottish-based players in her squad for next month’s four-team international tournament in Spain.

Sophie Campbell, Megan Gourlay and Audrey Wood will join up with GB to face hosts Spain, Hungary and Poland in the round robin competition being held in the Igloo Granada Ice Arena.

The tournament will run from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th November – please click here to view GB’s fixtures.

Smith and her coaching staff had a chance to see the squad in action over the weekend when they drew 3-3 with Northern Conference.

“We asked for specifics and they delivered,” said Smith.

“It’s a big adjustment for them but they all did what we asked of them. Now we review and prepare for the tournament.

“We have some good foundations to work with and we are starting to see the team develop in units rather than individuals.

“Overall, the coaching staff like what we are seeing and this is all preparation for January’s World Championship.”
