Aberdeen Lynx produced a superb team performance to beat reigning SNL champions Paisley Pirates 7-2 on Sunday.
Jordan Leyden (2), Iain Malcolm (2), Christian Johnson, Mark Laing and Calum MacEachran got the goals for Aberdeen to maintain their two point lead at the top of the table.
Kirkcaldy Kestrels bounced back from last week’s defeat against Lynx to record a comfortable 15-3 victory at Solway Sharks.
Conor Duncan (6), Chad Smith (2), Liam Cassidy (2), Reece Cochrane (2), Garry Simpson, Sean Cochrane and Graeme Allan were on target for the Kestrels.
Dundee Tigers secured a 14-2 success at home to Kilmarnock Thunder – Paul Guilcher (4) and Grant Reekie (3) topped their scoring.
The result was the Tigers’ third victory from their last four games, but defender Ian Carstairs says that despite the scoreline the home side didn’t have things their own way.
“Our first goal came after just eight seconds when Grant Reekie’s shot took an awkward bounce in front of the Thunder keeper, but it took another eleven minutes for us to add to that,” he said.
“We had a very strong spell at the end of the second period with five goals in the last five minutes and that really killed the game as a competition.
“All credit to the Thunder though as they came out fighting in the final session and grabbed a couple of well deserved goals. They are a young team that will only improve as the season goes on.
“We’re glad to add two more points to our tally for the season and while it was a good performance it wasn’t a great one and we’ve definitely got more to give.”
