Solway Sharks Juniors were delighted to receive £500 of funding from Tesco Peel Centre in Dumfries.
The money has been used to purchase training tops for a new initiative, Solway Super Sundays, which is held on the last Sunday of every month at Dumfries Ice Bowl.
The day sees a short training session followed by a series of small area games and is open to all registered players under the age of ten.
The past two sessions have seen a healthy attendance of players from all over Scotland, including eligible children from Solway Sharks.
The club’s U10 and U12 team manager, Simon Howat, said: “We are delighted to receive this funding from Tesco Peel Centre Dumfries, as it has enabled us to purchase training tops for the sessions and they look really smart.
“It makes it so much easier for the coaches to get the kids used to team work if they are all in the same colour top.
“All the players like to feel involved, and being able to mix players from different clubs into each team means they get to make new friends while having fun and sharpening their on-ice skills.
“We are very grateful to Tesco for their generous support, which also includes supplying fruit so that the payers can refuel after their hard work with a healthy snack.”
Anyone interested in taking part can get more information from the Solway Super Sundays Facebook page.
