National Development Programme: 2024 Season Updates and Improvements

We (SIH) are continuing to improve and develop the National Development Programme after another successful year. As part of this effort, there will be some changes to the programme.

Firstly, to maximise the development of our juniors, SIH will be organising squads at every age group, starting with the Prospects (2016).

The first National Development Day, on September 29th at Dumfries Ice Bowl, will include all age groups. Clubs have been invited to nominate players they believe are suitable to represent Scotland.

Starting in October, the SIH National Development Days will adopt a refreshed format and will be held across two rinks: Dundee Ice Arena and Dumfries Ice Bowl. We are looking to be able to facilitate two on-ice sessions, two off-ice sessions, and a classroom session for all age groups. Except Prospects, who will receive one on ice session, a classroom session and an off ice session.

Our U19 team will continue to represent the pinnacle of junior hockey in Scotland and will follow a separate development programme..

Additionally, we (SIH) are also looking to build on our off-ice programme. This will include educating juniors about everything related to our sport, from strength and conditioning to nutrition. Our aim is to develop more well-rounded athletes who fully understand what it takes to push their game to the next level.

In order to achieve successful NDDs, we are looking for coaches (any level) who are keen to learn and improve, or are willing to share their knowledge/experience to help support our existing experienced coaching team. We are also seeking volunteers to give up their time to help support events. For more information or to register your interest, please email: juniors@scottishicehockey.co.uk

We look forward to hosting these events throughout the season in order to help our juniors progress further in Scottish Ice Hockey.
