Dundee Tigers’ 8-1 win against North Ayrshire Wild on Saturday was their fourth victory in a row, but defender Ian Carstairs believes the team can still improve as the season progresses.
Although the Tigers are currently 7th in the SNL standings, they are just two points behind local rivals Dundee Comets in third place.
Carstairs said: “We played a bit of a scrappy game and really didn’t have a lot of flow in the first period. We managed to give ourselves a two goal lead going in to the second period, but in the first ten minutes the Wild could have easily been even with us.
“We seemed to switch on a bit after that though and scored a couple of really nicely worked goals to give us a comfortable cushion going into the final period. We had a solid final session, but are obviously disappointed as a team to lose the shutout for Gav Stark in goal for us.
“While the scoreline looks quite impressive we’ve definitely got more to give and there were flashes of that on the night. We’ll keep working hard and hopefully we can start taking points off the teams around us in our upcoming games.”
The Tigers are back in action on Sunday when they host Moray Typhoons.
