Great Britain were beaten 5-2 by Italy in an international challenge game at the Skydome in Coventry on Friday.
GB twice came from behind with Luke Ferrara and Ollie Betteridge on target, but Italy scored three third-period goals, including an empty-netter, to win the match.
Italy took the lead in the 12th minute as Diego Kostner fired past Jaskson Whistle, but Ferrara tied things up three minutes later.
The visitors took the lead on the powerplay as Anthony Bardaro fired top shelf on the short side after 28 minutes.
GB levelled in the final minute of the second period when Betteridge tipped in Ben O’Connor’s shot from the blueline.
Italy settled the match in the final session, with goals by Tommaso Goi, Ivan Tauferer and Giovanni Morini securing the victory.
GB are back in action on Sunday when they go head-to-head with Hungary at Milton Keynes (face-off 2.00pm).
