Great Britain U18 made a stunning start to the World Championship (Division 2A) tournament in Tallinn with a 6-3 victory over hosts Estonia.
Two goals by Mason Biddulph either side of the two minute mark put GB in control as Estonia struggled to cope with their opponent’s pacy attacks.
Strikes by Jordan Buesa (2) and Richard Krogh extended GB’s lead to five goals early into the second period, before Estonia staged a mini fightback.
Jegor Nevzorov, Nikita Puzakov and Rasmus Kiik hit back for Estonia, but GB restored their three-goal cushion as Patrick Larkin put away a rebound in the 37th minute.
There were no goals in the third period as GB claimed a convincing win in their opening game.
Interim Coach, Tony Hand, said: “It was a great team performance and one everyone can be proud of.
“We got a little excited going 5-0 up and had to calm ourselves down again, but we were composed and disciplined in those first 20 minutes.
“It was an excellent start to the tournament and one we can certainly build on.”
GB return to action on Monday when they take Australia (face-off 2.30pm UK time).
