Kerr praises Solway Sharks U20 for pushing Fife Falcons close

Solway Sharks U20 boss Jamie Kerr has praised his players for their efforts against Fife Falcons this season.

The Sharks were beaten by the Falcons in their recent Scottish Cup semi-final tie, with a late empty-netter for Fife crowning a hard-fought 5-3 victory.

The result came just a few weeks after Solway had become the first team to take point off the Falcons in the league this term with a 4-4 draw at Fife.

Despite seeing his team miss out on league and cup success, Kerr is pleased with the progress made by his players during the current campaign.

“The game was another great advert for Scottish junior hockey,” he said.

“This season’s team have done well and, although we are gutted to lose, I’m satisfied that we gave everything and it was a spectacle that could have gone our way on another day.

“Fife are the team you need to beat at this level to be the best and we were so very close, but immense credit to both sets of players for three amazing games over the season.”
