Schedule unveiled for Women’s U18 World Championship in Dumfries

The schedule has been confirmed for January’s U18 Women’s World Championship (Division 1B) tournament in Scotland.

The six-team IIHF event runs from 6th to 12th January and will take place at Dumfries Ice Bowl.

It is one of two tournaments being held this international season by Ice Hockey UK in Dumfries, with the Women’s World Championship (Division 2A) competition taking place in April.

GB Women U18 get their tournament underway on Sunday, 6th January, against Poland before facing France the following day.

They then go head-to-head with Norway on Wednesday, with China next on the agenda two days later.

The tournament is wrapped up with Great Britain against Netherlands on Saturday, 12th January.

IHUK general secretary, Andy French, said: “It is fantastic we are holding two tournaments this year and I am sure the local public will go behind GB Women.

“Our thanks, as ever, go to Dumfries Council and the Dumfries Ice Bowl for their support in securing this event.

“There are some bright young prospects in the GB Women’s programme and it will be great to showcase them on home ice at international level.”

Tickets details for both tournaments will be announced soon.
