SIHA Scottish Ice Hockey

Scottish Ice Hockey (SIH-UK) can confirm that its board has discussed the statement released by Aberdeen Lynx on Saturday, 6th April, via social media.

The SIH-UK board is disappointed with the information and content contained within the statement.

With regards to the specific incident and the sanctions imposed by SIH-UK and following discussions between both SIH-UK and Aberdeen Lynx, Ice Hockey UK (IHUK) officials were asked to review all matters including compliance and application of the rules and regulations as detailed within the SIH-UK handbook, sanctions applied and matters of mitigation.

Following review of the incident, and having considered all issues, IHUK supported the conclusions and sanctions imposed as appropriate, detailed within the handbook and applied consistently in respect of all clubs throughout the season.

SIH-UK have contacted Aberdeen Lynx to request formal correspondence in respect of the matters raised in the public statement issued by the club.

In addition, and in an attempt to move forward in a proactive way, the SIH-UK board has offered to meet with Aberdeen Lynx officials in an attempt to reach a positive conclusion.

It is SIH-UK’s intention to reach clarity and conclude matters in advance of the scheduled Scottish National League club meeting on 27th April so that the national association and all clubs can plan with confidence for the 2019/20 season.
