The youngest Solway Sharks team, the under 12s, recently completed their season with a thrilling victory in Auchenharvie.
Following on from their convincing 12-2 success in Aberdeen, the youngsters were in buoyant mood.
AJ Turner (2), Ewan Duignan (2), Owen Rae and Bailey Thomson got the goals as Solway triumphed 6-5 against North Ayr Penguins.
Coach Joe Coulter said: “Every player was fantastic from start to finish – the final result was a reflection of the whole team’s effort.
“Before the game we said that as long as we did the small things right and everyone contributed then we could walk away with all the points – as we did.
“Young Braiden (Howat) was incredible between the pipes – he has been making huge progress with his week-to-week training. It was great to see him string it all together and make some highlight reel saves to keep us in control of the game.
“Our defence was solid – I don’t think they get enough credit for their composure. They were relaxed when they had possession and forced their opponents to make mistakes all over the ice with a fearless attitude – battling it out in the corners and blocking shots any chance they could.
“Finally the offense was ferocious – goals win games and they looked like they were going to score almost every shift. When they couldn’t find space then they created it, really talented stuff.
“Full credit to the North Ayr side – they put up a great performance, taking the lead in spells of the game and I’m sure the fans watching feel like they got their money’s worth.
“This is the perfect way to end the league campaign – the progression that these young athletes have made individually and as a team since the start of the season has been substantial.
“The future is very bright for the club with these skilled youngsters coming through the ranks.”
