With just six weeks of the regular season remaining the Scottish National League title race looks set to go down to the wire.
Reigning champions Dundee Comets currently lead the way, two points ahead of Kirkcaldy Kestrels and Murrayfield Racers.
Paisley Pirates are a further two points adrift, although they may need a couple of favours from elsewhere if they are to claim top spot.
The Comets face a tough looking run-in, with four of their last five matches coming against the sides directly below them in the league table.
If they can emerge unscathed from games against Murrayfield (H), Kirkcaldy (A), Paisley (A) and Aberdeen Lynx (H), the Comets could claim the title when they face Dundee Tigers on 9th March.
Kirkcaldy’s hopes of success appear to hinge on their games against Murrayfield (A) and the Comets (H). Defeat in either match would probably end their challenge.
The Kestrels must also face North Ayrshire Wild (H), Aberdeen (A) and Solway Stingrays (H) and they can ill-afford any slip-ups over the next few weeks.
Murrayfield will fancy their chances of overhauling the top two, with the Edinburgh-based club currently having two games in hand on their rivals.
The Racers’ games next weekend against the Comets (A) and Kirkcaldy (H) may well determine the outcome of the title battle.
Tony Hand’s side also have fixtures against Kilmarnock Thunder (H & A), Aberdeen (H), North Ayrshire (A) and Solway (A).
Paisley’s defeat against Murrayfield last weekend put a big dent in their title hopes.
They are still to face Solway (H & A), Aberdeen (A), the Comets (A) and Kilmarnock (H) and will probably need to win every game if they are to finish on top of the pile.
Paisley are one of two title contenders in action this weekend as they travel to face Solway on Sunday, while Kirkcaldy host North Ayrshire on the same evening.
