SNL round-up: Big guns well-placed for progress in the Scottish Cup

Three of the SNL’s top sides are in pole position to reach the last four of the Scottish Cup after winning the first leg of their quarter-final ties over the weekend.

Mark Laing, Iain Malcolm and Christian Johnson each weighed in with a couple of goals as Aberdeen Lynx triumphed 9-5 at Moray Typhoons. Andrew Murphy, Fraser MacEachran and Jordan Leyden were also on the scoresheet for the visitors.

Michal Beca (2) and John Gordon (2) topped the scoring for Dundee Comets in their 8-4 victory at Kilmarnock Storm.

Paisley Pirates were pushed hard by North Ayrshire Wild in their quarter-final tie, but a five-goal final period blitz eventually helped the home side secure a comfortable win.

Goals by Michael Dobson (2) and Haydn Bain gave Paisley a 3-0 lead at the end of the second period, but they pulled away in the final session.

Marc Crute, Bain, Euan McLaughlin, Richard Thorp and Dobson’s hat-trick goal completed an 8-0 success.

Paul Guilcher and Ross Bree were on target for Dundee Tigers as they recorded a 2-1 league victory at North Ayrshire.
