SNL round-up: Dundee Comets claim 2018 play-off title in style

Dundee Comets claimed the SNL Play-off title in style after recording two victories at Fife Ice Arena over the weekend.

The Comets faced Aberdeen Lynx in Saturday’s first semi-final and they ran out comfortable 8-1 winners – Adam McNicoll (2) topped their scoring.

The second semi-final between Kirkcaldy Kestrels and Paisley Pirates was a much closer affair.

Paisley led 3-1 at the end of the first period, but Kirkcaldy fought back to secure an 8-5 victory – Garry Simpson (2), Scott Jamieson (2), Jamie Wilson, Conor Duncan, Robbie Hill and Marty Simpson got their goals.

There was little to choose between Dundee and Kirkcaldy during the early part of Sunday’s final, but the Comets managed to open up a two-goal lead by the end of the first period and never looked in danger of losing after that.

McNicoll (2), John Dolan (2), Michal Beca (2), Kris Phillips, Cameron McGiffin and Sam McCluskey were on target for Dundee as they claimed the trophy courtesy of a 9-2 success.
