Paisley Pirates began the defence of their SNL title with two impressive victories over the weekend.
The Pirates opened their campaign with a 7-0 success at North Ayrshire Wild and followed up with a 7-1 win at home to Kilmarnock Storm.
Kirkcaldy Kestrels progressed to the second round of the Scottish Cup, but they were given an almighty scare by Edinburgh Capitals SNL along the way.
The Kestrels held a 5-3 advantage from last week’s first leg, but Harry Ferguson’s goal midway through the first period reduced the gap to one.
Goals by Scott Jamieson, Reece Cochrane and Jamie Wilson opened up a four-goal aggregate lead for Kirkcaldy and put them in control of the tie.
Edinburgh refused to lie down, with Calum Robertson, Joel Gautschi and Ross Jordan making it 8-7 to the Kestrels with three minutes to play.
The Capitals pulled their netminder in search of an equaliser, but Robin Floyd took advantage to seal the tie for Kirkcaldy 24 seconds before the final buzzer.
John Dolan led the way for Dundee Comets as they eased into the next round courtesy of a 19-4 aggregate victory over Dundee Tigers.
Dolan scored six goals as the Comets added an 11-3 success to last week’s 8-1 first leg win.
Solway Stingrays lost 11-3 at Kilmarnock Thunder, but they go through to the second round 15-14 on aggregate.
Marcus Murdoch (3) and Keir Anderson (2) topped the scoring for Kilmarnock.
