Aberdeen Lynx defenceman JP Jack reckons his team won’t have too many issues if they play the way they did against Kirkcaldy Kestrels on Saturday.
A Ben Edmonds overtime winner saw the North East side take a vital second point over Kirkcaldy Kestrels to top of the SNL standings following a hard fought win.
And Jack, who was man of the match for Aberdeen was suitably impressed at the manner of how they dealt with the game.
“What we really showed was character,” he said. “We had intensity right from the start and kept them in their own zone for large periods of the game.
“We were dominant in the game I think, which shows the true nature of the boys and if we keep that up, we’ll have no problems all year round.”
Jack Flynn’s opening marker gave Lynx a first period lead, but two goals within 43 second period seconds – both powerplay finishes – from Rolands Dietlavs and Grant Jamieson turned things around for Kirkcaldy.
Mark Laing levelled on 44 minutes, but neither team could find a way past until Edmonds struck in the extra period to secure the points.

Elsewhere, Richard Hartmann scored a hat-trick for Dundee Comets, but the night belonged to Edinburgh Capitals, who got their first victory of the season in a slender 5-4 success.
Because of the home ice availability on Tayside, double points were up for grabs and the win helped the Caps hugely, despite the late rally from Comets.
Adam Robinson’s first period powerplay put Dundee in front, but Capitals equalised through Chad Smith shorthanded before Joel Gautschi added another against his old team.
Smith’s second and Andrei Ogloblin made it 4-1 with Aiden Paterson’s powerplay goal seemingly make it comfortable on 49 minutes.
However Comets roared back in the space of 72 dramatic seconds in the final minutes as Hartmann struck to bring Comets to within one, but Edinburgh held on for a huge victory in the end.
In Ayrshire, North Ayrshire Wild also picked up their first win of the season as two third period goals separated them from local rivals, Kilmarnock Thunder to claim a 4-2 victory.

Wild player-coach Scott Cowan led my example with a goal after just 12 seconds before Thunder levelled through Ross Andreucci within a minute later.
Both teams cancelled each other out again in the second as Ewan Anderson’s finish for Kilmarnock was equalled by Jack Neil.
But the job was done for Cowan’s side with two powerplay goals, coming from Adam Kerr and Kyle Forsyth.
On Sunday, a last second Rio Page overtime winner secured a massive away victory for Dundee Tigers at Paisley Pirates as they nicked the extra point in a 4-3 win.
It was a time that could have gone either way as Grant Reekie opened the scoring for Tigers in the first on the powerplay, which was cancelled out by Marty Simpson at the other end.
Marty Guy fired Paisley in front late in the second, but the joy was shortlived as Robbie Hill equalised and the teams were tied at two each going into the third.
Once more it was stalemate as Robbie Barnett fired Dundee in front, only for Simpson to haul Pirates level again and there it stayed until Page’s big moment right at the end of the overtime period to confirm the win.
