SIH teams up with Canadian coaching program to deliver live webinars

Scottish Ice Hockey has linked up with a respected Canadian coaching program to deliver a series of innovative webinars for its coaches and players.

Hosted by Harry Mahood from the Northwestern Hockey Camp Canada, the first session was staged earlier this week and attracted nearly 100 participants.

Mahood discussed coaching ethos, understanding players, visualisation and goal-setting, before running a technical session on forechecking.

SIH has also purchased a series of webinars for its players which are designed to keep them engaged with the sport while play is suspended.

First founded in 1987, Northwestern Hockey Camp Canada has delivered programs throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and the United Kingdom.

Mahood boasts a wealth of experience in ice hockey, having played in the BCHL, WHL and signed as a free agent with the Calgary Flames in 1982.

He also played college hockey at the University of Manitoba from 1983-87, before finishing his playing career in Germany.

Mahood went on to coach professionally for over two decades, winning nine championships, two national titles and helping hundreds of players progress higher up the scale.
