NEWS: Bruins enjoy a day with the Honest Men

Players and coaches of Ayr Bruins were given a day to remember when they visited Somerset Park, the home of local Scottish Championship football team, Ayr United.

The kids, ranging from ages 5-13, were guests as United took on Greenock Morton in a top of the table clash, with both teams playing out a 1-1 draw.

The older kids got the chance to be ball boys for the day while the younger members of the club helped collect donations for the club.

But despite the footballers failing to produce a victory on the pitch, it didn’t dampen the Bruins spirits as they got to meet manager Lee Bullen, who had also visited them at their practice session at their rink on the Friday.

Alastair Prince, the Ayr Bruins head coach, reflected on a great day for the kids, who had a memorable time.

“The day was a fantastic success and bringing our two clubs this way really made it a special one for everyone involved,” he said.

“From the kids acting as ball boys and the younger ones doing the bucket collection, just being part of it was a great experience for them and one I’m sure they’ll never forget.

“We want to thank Martin Trocker, Ayr United’s Commercial Director for his support and co-operation in helping set the day up.

“We also want to thank Lee Bullen for taking the time to talk to the kids and make them feel involved.  It was a great occasion.”

Bruins have a signed Ayr United shirt and a Glasgow Clan jersey as raffle prizes and tickets can be purchased for £5.  Anyone wishing to buy tickets should contact Julie via enquiries@ayrbruins.co.uk.
