SIH Generate Program: Testing New Ground in Scottish Junior Hockey

Scottish Ice Hockey introduces the SIH Generate Program, a one-day pilot tournament taking place today at Dundee Ice Arena on December 30th, 2024. The program has two clear objectives: fostering player development and promoting competitive fairness.

At the heart of this new format is a draft-based team system where players from different clubs are mixed into teams for the day. This approach creates balanced competition and gives players the valuable experience of adapting to new teammates and different playing styles.

By distributing players across mixed teams, the tournament ensures every game is competitively balanced. This level playing field allows young players to focus on their development and enjoy the experience without the pressure of mismatched competitions.

The streamlined schedule with reduced ice cuts means more time playing hockey and less time waiting around – another key factor in making the most of this development opportunity.

With clubs having already submitted their players, we’re excited to see this new format in action. The SIH Generate Program demonstrates how competitive fairness and player development can go hand in hand, creating an enjoyable experience for all participants.

Join us at Dundee Ice Arena today to witness Scottish junior hockey trying something new!
