The UK Ice Hockey Foundation (UKIHF), affiliated to Ice Hockey UK (IHUK), is thrilled to announce the appointments of Ferhat Tozunler as National Manager of Growth & Development, and Euan King as National Manager of Goaltending Development and Co-National Manager of Hockey Development.
Kevin McLaughlin, Head of Hockey Development at UKIHF, said: “These landmark hires underline our commitment to expanding participation and raising technical standards across British ice hockey in the junior game.
“I have been very impressed by how clubs operate across the sport, with so much dedication from coaches and volunteers, and lots of talented players. Our role, in partnership with Ice Hockey UK, is to offer world-class expertise to assist in their ambition to reach new levels.
“Both Euan and Ferhat bring outstanding calibre, enthusiasm and energy to the Foundation’s mission and it’s brilliant to have them on-board.”
National Manager of Growth & Development: Ferhat Tozunler
Tozunler will be working closely with our partners at IHUK – and clubs across England Ice Hockey and Scottish Ice Hockey – to assist in spearheading participation and membership growth,
Joining the Foundation with a background in grassroots growth and development of the game at every level, Tozunler has extensive hockey growth, recruitment and Learn To Play program experience as a committee member with the IIHF and multiple projects with several international federations.
He brings a strong strategic approach to growing the game, with a focus on sustainable, data and community-driven recruitment and development.
National Manager of Goaltending Development & Co-National Manager of Hockey Development: Euan King
King is a respected and accomplished goaltending specialist, currently serving as Goaltending, Video & Assistant Coach with the Cardiff Devils (EIHL) and Goaltending Coach for the Great Britain Men’s National Team.
In his dual role, drawing upon his experience at high levels of both club and international hockey, in partnership with IHUK, King will design and deliver a world-class national goaltending development programme to support junior hockey club development. Additionally, he will co-lead broader player and coach development initiatives.
Staelens: Foundation will benefit junior players across the sport
Henry Staelens, Chief Executive Officer of Ice Hockey UK and England Ice Hockey said: “The Foundation is going to bring so much benefit and additional resources to clubs and junior players across the sport.
“We are working closely with EIH and SIH to ensure maximum reach and impact for the Foundation’s initiatives across their clubs, and this commitment will be further strengthened by the proposed merger in a few weeks’ time.”
