Double-Header Week for Rockets and Warriors as Lynx Travel to Auchenharvie

Scottish National League action returns with a full weekend of fixtures — including two double-headers as teams reach the midpoint of their seasons.

Dundee Rockets on the Road: Thunder Saturday, Pirates Sunday

It’s a busy weekend for Dundee Rockets, who sit 4th in the table on 19 points despite having played fewer games than any other team (12). They trail the Pirates by just two points, and a strong weekend could move them closer to the Warriors and Capitals above.

Rockets come into the weekend on a four-game winning streak.

Saturday – Kilmarnock Thunder (Away)

Thunder’s smaller home ice pad will create a different type of game, but Rockets’ pace and organisation should translate effectively regardless of rink size. Kilmarnock have found this season challenging, and the focus for them will be on managing the tempo and staying settled as the game progresses.

Sunday – Paisley Pirates (Away, Braehead Arena)

A very different test awaits on the big ice at Braehead. Rockets won 8–2 in the last meeting, but Pirates — who have played more games than any other team (17) — will be determined to protect their position in the top three. It’s likely to be a competitive, physical game with both sides looking to take advantage of any opportunities.

Whitley Warriors Double-Header: Kestrels Away, Sharks at Home

Whitley Warriors sit 2nd in the table on 25 points after 16 games, level with Edinburgh Capitals on points, although the Caps are not in action this weekend.

Two games give Warriors a chance to build on their position.

Saturday – Kirkcaldy Kestrels (Away)

The sides have already met twice, with Warriors taking narrow wins both times. Kestrels recently disrupted Edinburgh Capitals’ perfect run, and they’ll be aiming to cause another upset as they welcome the Warriors. Another tight contest is to be expected.

Sunday – Solway Sharks SNL (Home)

This will be the third meeting between the teams. Warriors won the first encounter, but Solway came out on top in the most recent game, edging a 2–1 result.

Solway sit on 6 points — level with North Ayrshire Wild — and will be looking to add to their total in an effort to make up ground.

Warriors, meanwhile, will look to make home ice count.

Aberdeen Lynx Travel to North Ayrshire Wild

Aberdeen Lynx head to Auchenharvie on Saturday for their first visit to North Ayrshire Wild this season.

The previous meeting came in Aberdeen in September, where Lynx won 9–2, but Wild have shown steady progress, highlighted by last weekend’s 8–5 win over Solway Sharks SNL.

Player availability continues to influence squads throughout the league, and Lynx have also managed injuries in recent weeks. With the smaller Auchenharvie pad likely to raise the tempo and Wild showing improvements in their recent performances, it could be a demanding evening for both teams.

Wild, like Solway, sit on 6 points and will be aiming to build on that as they look to stay in touch with the teams ahead of them.

When they last met, Lynx were the more threatening side offensively, but home ice and North Ayrshire’s growing confidence could suggest a different type of contest this time.
