GB schedule announced for World Championship tournament

The schedule has been unveiled for the IIHF World Championship tournament in Switzerland, which runs from May 8-24th, 2020.

GB are in Group A in Lausanne for their second successive year in the top flight, alongside Belarus, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Slovakia and Sweden.

Pete Russell’s side – as they did last season in Slovakia – will start against Germany, with the two sides going head-to-head on Saturday, 9th May.

Slovakia are up next the following day, with Denmark scheduled for the Tuesday. Czech Republic are GB’s opponents on Wednesday, 13th May, followed by a game against Canada two days later.

GB’s final two group games are against Sweden on Sunday, 17th May, and Belarus the following afternoon.

Group B in Zurich will consist of Finland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Norway, Russia, Switzerland and the United States.

The top four teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage.
