It was a day to remember for Kirkcaldy Ice Hockey Club (KIHC) at the Scottish Cup Finals event on Saturday, with three of their teams picking up silverware at Dundee Ice Arena.
Kirkcaldy Redskins kicked things off with a 3-0 victory over North Ayrshire Penguins in the day’s opening game at U12 level, before Kirkcaldy Chiefs (below) defeated Kilmarnock Lightning 6-3 in the the U14 final.
Fife Flames missed out in the U16 final, losing 10-2 against Dundee Stars, but Fife Falcons (above) enjoyed better fortunes at U20 level, winning 10-3 against Murrayfield JIHC.
KIHC chairman, Ian Keddie, said: “Once again our teams have done us proud on Scottish Cup Finals day.
“To have four teams make their respective finals was a great achievement and for three of them to come home with the cup was special.
“Redskins showed just what they have been doing all season and the improvement they have made is a testament to the work that coaches Sean Annan and Allan Anderson have done throughout the year.
“Chiefs have saved their best performances of the season for the Scottish Cup and they executed Steven Lynch’s game plan to a ‘T’, taking away space from Kilmarnock’s dangermen and taking their own chances that came along.
“Falcons proved why they have been the best U20 team in Scotland this season. These players take a great pride in maintaining the level of performance that they, and their peers, have produced over recent years of success.”
