Scottish Ice Hockey is inviting applications for a Regional Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to support clubs and help strengthen safeguarding practice across the sport.
The Regional DSL will play an important role within the national safeguarding structure, providing support, guidance and mentorship to Club DSLs across the region and helping to ensure safeguarding standards and procedures are applied consistently.
Working closely with the National Safeguarding Lead and Case Management Group, the successful applicant will act as a key link between clubs and the national safeguarding structure.
About the Role
The Regional DSL will provide a direct point of support for Club DSLs, helping them manage their safeguarding responsibilities confidently and effectively.
Key areas of the role include:
- Supporting the implementation of national safeguarding policies and procedures
- Providing guidance around PVG/DBS checks and safe recruitment
- Supporting Club DSLs with safeguarding concerns and appropriate escalation
- Supporting safeguarding training and development
- Helping monitor safeguarding standards and compliance across clubs
- Promoting a positive, welfare-first safeguarding culture throughout the sport
This is a voluntary position, with travel and training costs covered, requiring a minimum one-year commitment. Full induction, training and ongoing CPD will be provided.
Applicants should have experience in safeguarding, welfare or child protection within sport, education, youth work or a similar environment. Previous experience as a Club DSL or in a comparable safeguarding role would be advantageous.
