Paul Guilcher’s late overtime winner delivered an excellent away win for Dundee Tigers as they condemned Kirkcaldy Kestrels to a second straight defeat.
The goal, four seconds from the end, catapults the Tigers into the top two and with Dundee Comets claiming double points from their Sunday success over Paisley Pirates, it opened things up nicely at the top of the table.
For current champions, Kestrels, it is a second straight loss even if they did pick up another point from it, but had work to do after going 3-1 down after the first.
Two goals within a minute, from Rio Page and Guilcher with his first of the night, set things up nicely for Tigers nicely although Scott Jamieson got Kirkcaldy on the board.
His older brother, Grant, got another to bring Kestrels to within one, but Robbie Hill made it 4-2 before the second break.

Kirkcaldy clawed themselves level in the third with the Jamieson brothers each scoring again to tie the game at four, with Guilcher taking the extra point for Tigers.
Their Tayside neighbours, Dundee Comets were celebrating on Sunday as they took all four points – points counting double games in Dundee this season – in a 4-2 home win over Paisley Pirates.
Ian Turley’s side trailed through Stephen Eccles’ goal in the second period, but got the worst possible restart when John Dolan increased Comet’s lead to two.
Ian Bowie made it three on the powerplay for the home side, but Pirates began to hit back through Gary Parker.
Cam McGiffin secured the points with Dundee’s fourth and although Gary Simpson pulled another back for Paisley, that was to be the sum of their efforts.

Aberdeen Lynx held on to top spot as they shut out North Ayrshire Wild on Saturday night to take them to double figures in points.
Ben Edmonds opened the scoring in the first before Jordan Leyden – on the powerplay – and a shorthanded Kyle McPhail put them three up.
Another PP goal from Leyden made sure of the points, leaving Wild heading back down the road with nothing.
Edinburgh Capitals made it two wins from three as they scored eight goals of a 14-goal contest with Kilmarnock Thunder at The Galleon.
Chad Smith’s hat-trick and two from Sean Cochrane made it a good night for Edinburgh on the road, with Finlay Anderson scoring twice for Thunder.
RESULTS:
Saturday
Kilmarnock Thunder 6 Edinburgh Capitals 8
Aberdeen Lynx 4 North Ayrshire Wild 0
Sunday
Kirkcaldy Kestrels 4 Dundee Tigers 5 (OT)
Dundee Comets 4 Paisley Pirates 2
