It’s the sprint to the finish with end of the season being just a few weeks away and teams battling for that last few points that can make all the difference.
Aberdeen Lynx breakaway at the top of the league with a 5 point lead after winning 12-5 against the Dundee Tigers at home on Saturday.
The Tigers set the pace for the night with John Gordon opening the scoring just after puck drop, but Lynx D man Toby Reynolds levelled the score with an unassisted goal just two minutes later.
Tigers scored again but the Lynx were on the offensive and pushed ahead with another 3 goals ending the period 4-2.

Only 19 seconds into the 2nd period Gary Kelly scored his first of three goal for the Lynx. Piling on the pressure the Aberdeen side bagged a further 3 goals, but only Andrew Henderson from the Tigers managed to find the back of the net.
After the second break the Lynx were leading 10-3. 5 Minutes into the 3rd period Aberdeen pulled their net minder Dale Shear and gave their young second goalie Rory Woods some more SNL experience between the pipes.
But it wasn’t long before Tigers’ John Gordon scored a further two goals just a minute apart whilst on the Power Play, but Nils Tanner and Josh Purvis chalked up two more for Aberdeen.
Dundee Comets headed to Murrayfield on Saturday. A close game but Comets clinched a 4-3 win, placing them just 1 point behind the Capitals in the league.
Comets Coach, Richard Hartmann said,: “Right now we are playing really good hockey. In Edinburgh we showed how good we are even with a short bench.
It shows the character of the team, they chilled out and are playing much better. The system is clicking and the guys help each other out, and we’ve got a fantastic goalie Tony in the nets. Everything we ask as coaches is working.
I’m really pleased, when we play like this the wins come. We work hard and help each other out as a team, we are a family. It is great to see the boys playing the way they are just now.
It looks promising for the playoffs. We have two games left in the season and we are going to try and win both games and see where we are at the end.”
The Pirates had an action packed weekend with an away game against Kilmarnock Thunder on Saturday and home on Sunday against Kirkcaldy Kestrels.
Saturday saw a huge 10-4 win against Kilmarnock Thunder. Pirates’ Calum Blair was the only one to find the back of the net in the first period scoring the first of his three goals on the night.
The net minders were kept busy after the first break with 6 more goals scored by Paisley Pirates and 2 by Kilmarnock Thunder .
The 3rd started 7-2 to the Pirates, but only 40 seconds in Thunder’s Conner McNulty scored his first of 2 goals of the period. Even 5 goals ahead the Pirates kept the pressure on and scored another 3 times, finishing with 10-4 scoreline.
With two points in the bag and two more up for grabs on Sunday, Paisley had the potential to overtake the Comets and take up 3rd position in the league.
Fans were treated to an edge of your seat game at the Braehead Arena. The Pirates came out strong and took the lead, but Kestrels dug deep and fought back. By the end of the last period Pirates were leading 4-3, but with only 65 seconds remaining on the clock Scott Jamieson netted the equaliser.
Going into overtime it was Kyle Horne that clinched the win for the Kestrels and bagged the two points taking them to 26, just 2 points behind Dundee Tigers.
With the game going into overtime Pirates took home 1 point which took them to 33 points, the same as the Comets. Dundee Comets remain in 3rd and stay above the Pirates because of head to head points.
