Scotland U15 head coach urges players to continue progressing in Sheffield

Scotland U15 head coach Ricky Grubb has urged his players to continue their progression at this weekend’s Conference event at iceSheffield.

The U15 side missed out on the final last season, despite being defeated in just one of their four group games.

They beat South East 4-1, but lost by the odd goal in five against North. Draws against Midlands and South West ended their interest in the tournament.

However, Grubb believes that a recent trip to Slovakia could provide the perfect platform for further progression in Sheffield.

“We are looking forward to this weekend and hoping the kids can fulfil their potential,” he said.

“If the kids can bring what they have learned from our national training days and execute it this weekend then they will give themselves a good chance to do well.

“It’s a very competitive tournament where you could have the same tournament the following week and get different results.

“We are just back from a warm-up tournament in Bratislava where the kids adapted themselves very well and hopefully they can continue their progress here.”

Each age group this weekend is a five-team round robin, with the top two sides in each group progressing to finals on the Monday.

The four-day event takes place from Friday 3rd to Monday 6th May.

The weekend begins with a Scotland versus England U19 international on the first day, with the Conference games starting early on Saturday.
