Scotland U13 aiming to go one better at Conference Weekend

Head coach Richie Phillips is hoping his Scotland U13 squad can shine at this weekend’s Conference event at iceSheffield.

Scotland are set to face four English conference sides – Northern, Midlands, South East and South West – at U11, U13, U15 and U17 level.

Each age group is a five-team round robin, with the top two sides in each group progressing to finals on the Monday.

Last year’s U13 team reached the final in their age group, but they were narrowly beaten 2-0 by South East.

Phillips said: “Scotland U13s did really well last year in reaching the final, only to be beaten by a strong South East team.

“This year’s team has a good mix of talent. Hopefully we can do well and with a bit of luck go one better this time around.”

The four-day event takes place from Friday 3rd to Monday 6th May.

The weekend begins with a Scotland versus England U19 international on the first day, with the Conference games starting early on Saturday.
