Scottish Ice Hockey Statement – Serious Incident Review Outcome

Scottish Ice Hockey can confirm that the incident which occurred during the Scottish National League fixture between Whitley Warriors and Solway Sharks on 18 October 2025 was referred to the organisation’s Serious Incident Review (SIR) Panel for full investigation.

Following a thorough review of match footage, match officials’ reports, and supporting evidence, the SIR Panel has now concluded its investigation. The findings and sanctions have been formally communicated to both the player and the club involved.

Scottish Ice Hockey does not condone any form of violent or dangerous conduct within the sport and remains fully committed to ensuring the highest standards of safety, discipline, and respect across all levels of play.

In recent days, there has been considerable online discussion and comment surrounding this incident. While open dialogue and concern for player welfare are understandable, some of the commentary has been inappropriate, threatening, or personally derogatory toward those involved.

We wish to be clear that while the player’s actions were subject to firm disciplinary action, personal attacks or online harassment are never acceptable. Incidents of this nature can have a negative impact on all parties — including players, coaches, officials, clubs, and supporters.

Scottish Ice Hockey respectfully requests that all contributors, supporters, and members of the public exercise restraint and respect when commenting online or in public forums. Constructive discussion helps us improve our game; personal abuse does not.
