Solway Sharks join the Scottish National League

Scottish Ice Hockey is delighted to confirmed that Solway Sharks have joined the Scottish National League (SNL).

The Sharks asked to enter the SNL due to the reduced number of fixtures scheduled in NIHL North for the 2019/20 campaign.

Solway’s application to play in the SNL next season was approved at the SIH Annual General Meeting on Sunday. The team will ice in league fixtures only.

The Dumfries-based outfit will also retain their place in Moralee D1 and compete in the NIHL North Cup alongside Murrayfield Racers, Dundee Comets, Billingham Stars and Whitley Warriors.

SIH chairman, David Hand, said: “We’re delighted to add Solway Sharks to the SNL line-up next season. They are a well-run organisation and will undoubtedly be an asset to the league.

“We’ll be liaising with the English Ice Hockey Association over the coming weeks to organise a mutually acceptable schedule for the Sharks’ fixtures.”

SIH will confirm the full structure for the 2019/20 season in due course.
