Scottish Ice Hockey regret to announce the resignation of Mike Stewart from his role as chairman, effective immediately.
Mike has taken the difficult decision to step down due to a change in personal circumstances meaning it has become more and more difficult to continue to fulfil the duties of the role.
Mike was elected and duly appointed chairman of Scottish Ice Hockey in May 2022 after a period in the position as interim chairman.
This was a crucial time for the organisation and Mike led the way in re-establishing the sport in Scotland after the Covid 19 pandemic and an unplanned period of organisational change.
The board have accepted his resignation and will now begin the process of looking for a successor.
A spokesman said: “On behalf of the Scottish Ice Hockey, I want to thank Mike for his contribution, time and efforts during his time as chairman.
“He played a big role in helping to re-establish SIH during a difficult time and his efforts leave the sport in a better place than when he took up the role. We wish him all the very best for the future.
“The organisation will continue to function as normal and any further statements will be made in due course.”
