The Scottish National League enters its second week with a full slate of five fixtures, giving fans across the country plenty to follow. Four games are set for Saturday, before attention turns to Whitley Bay on Sunday.

Saturday begins with an afternoon meeting in Braehead as the Kirkcaldy Kestrels travel west to face the Paisley Pirates. The two clubs are already familiar with each other this season, having met in both pre-season and last weekend’s league opener. Paisley took the points with a 3–1 win in that encounter, but it was the Kestrels who looked stronger when the sides met in preparation games. Both teams were fierce competitors last season and, with plenty to play for, this one could be another hard-fought contest.

In Edinburgh, the Capitals face off against the newly formed Solway Sharks SNL side in what is sure to be a significant occasion. It marks Solway’s first ever league fixture, though their preparations have not been straightforward. With their rink undergoing major upgrades, the Sharks have had to train at borrowed ice, limiting their time together as a group. Edinburgh, on the other hand, have been busy through pre-season, taking on challenging opponents and refreshing their roster with new names. It will be an important test for the Sharks as they find their feet, while the Capitals look to put their preparations into practice.

In Dundee, the Rockets begin their campaign as reigning league champions and Scottish Cup holders after a remarkable debut season that saw them immediately establish themselves as one of the top contenders. They welcome Kilmarnock Thunder, who struggled last season and endured a tough start last weekend against North Ayrshire Wild. Discipline played a major role in that result, and the Thunder will need to keep their composure if they are to compete with a Rockets side known for clinical finishing and structured play.

Meanwhile, at the Linx Ice Arena, Aberdeen Lynx play host to North Ayrshire Wild. The Lynx, last season’s playoff champions, blend experience with a focus on developing younger players through their senior roster. They began the season last weekend with a competitive game against Whitley, and will look to build on that performance in front of their home support. North Ayrshire, for their part, have been steadily rebuilding with a youthful core over the past two years and continue to build on that approach this season. Having secured a convincing win in their opening game, the Wild will be keen to test themselves against one of the league’s more established outfits.

The weekend concludes on Sunday with Solway Sharks SNL completing a demanding double-header as they head across the border to face Whitley Warriors. Whitley, newcomers to the SNL this season, marked their first outing with a hard-fought victory in Aberdeen, a competitive game that remained close until the final stages. They will now aim to follow it up on home ice. For Solway, a two-game weekend against experienced opponents offers both a challenge and an opportunity to quickly find their feet at this level.

With champions beginning their title defence, newcomers stepping onto the ice for the first time, and familiar rivalries being renewed, the second weekend of SNL action promises plenty for fans to enjoy.
