England and Scotland Ice Hockey Teams Unite for Winter Showcase Event at Ice Sheffield

As the National Team programmes for both England Ice Hockey and Scottish Ice Hockey are in full swing, both organisations are working closely together to establish a winter program that will aid coaches in selecting traveling teams for each nation.

To facilitate this, we have collaborated to create a round-robin events, inviting players to participate from December 27 to December 30 at Ice Sheffield.

Scottish coaches will select teams to compete against England in four full-length games over two days.

  • December 27 and 28 will feature our Under 15 and Under 16 players.
  • December 29 and 30 will showcase our Under 13 and Under 14 players.

All games will be live-streamed on the England Ice Hockey YouTube channel, and spectators are welcome to attend free of charge.

We are also aiming to partner with Hudl/Instat, so all players will receive individual statistical and video analysis, as in previous showcase event. Coaches will receive comprehensive feedback to assist in the selection process.

Ben Pitchley, General Manager of the Elite Player Pathway, commented: “As Ice Hockey UK recently announced, our national programs are working more closely with each other not only for their own nations, but also for the bigger picture which is pushing our elite players towards the GB Pathway.”

Ben adds, “Working with Jamie Thomson, and the team from Scottish Ice Hockey, does create opportunities for our best players to play in competitive games, whilst also helping our coaches with watching the players prior to finalising our teams for participating in tournaments in the spring”.

Jamie Thomson, Head of Hockey Operations, said, “Over the last few years it’s been a breath of fresh air dealing with Ben and the team at England Ice Hockey, these events have gone from strength to strength and are allowing us to accelerate the development of our players. With more to come this season and beyond, the team at Scottish Ice Hockey are fully committed to working together and ensuring we put as many joint events on as possible.”

We will announce the schedules and teams closer to the event and look forward to seeing you there.
