Scottish Teams Set to Compete in Lions Cup 2025

Scottish Ice Hockey is proud to announce that three Scotland teams will be heading to Espoo, Finland, to compete in the prestigious Lions Cup, the largest ice hockey and ringette tournament series in Europe. The event, taking place from April 11-13, will see Scotland’U11s, U13s, and U15s test themselves against top competition from across Europe and North America. The U17s will have their opportunity to compete in August.

The Lions Cup is one of Europe’s premier youth ice hockey events, with tournaments hosted every spring and summer in Finland and the Czech Republic. Since its inception in 2003, the tournament has welcomed teams from across the world, including Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK, Ukraine, and the USA.

In support of our athletes, Scottish Ice Hockey has committed to contributing up to £250 per athlete through the Athlete Fund Match programme. This initiative aims to help subsidise travel and participation costs for international tournaments, easing the financial burden on families while encouraging athletes to take an active role in securing support.

This tournament presents an incredible opportunity for our young athletes to gain experience against elite competition while representing Scotland in one of Europe’s most prestigious hockey events. Stay tuned for further updates as we prepare to support our teams in their Lions Cup journey!
