Scottish Ice Hockey is delighted to confirm that the sport can resume for U18 players and below from Monday, 26th April.
As things stand, the areas that enter Level 3 on that date will be able to play contact sports indoors. Any areas remaining in Level 4 will not be allowed to do this.
SIH will liaise with the COVID-19 officers at the clubs to ensure that the correct protocols are in place for the return to action. These will need to be observed at all times.
It is anticipated that Scotland will enter Level 2 on Monday, May 17th, although this will not impact what activities can be undertaken.
Indoor contact sport for adults will only resume when we get to Level 0, and sportscotland cannot provide a date for that at this moment in time.
SIH COVID-19 officer, Jim Paterson, said: “As we have discovered over the past year, the situation regarding coronavirus can change rapidly.
“The government may implement new rules if the rates increase in certain areas, and we will continue to follow the guidance as we move forward.
“The last twelve months have been extremely frustrating for everyone, but hopefully we now have some light at the end of the tunnel.”
