SNL Roundup: Goals Flow but Standings Hold Firm Ahead of Title Run-In

With only two weekends remaining in the Scottish National League season, every game is now carrying added weight — but this latest round of fixtures kept the standings unchanged, setting up a decisive run-in.

Warriors edge tight contest with Kestrels

Whitley Warriors claimed a narrow 3–2 win over Kirkcaldy Kestrels in one of the closest games of the weekend. Kestrels struck first through Ross Henderson from Finley King, but the response was immediate as Callum Queenan levelled for the home side. With a full roster, Whitley began to build pressure, particularly in the second period where Kestrels struggled to break out of their zone. Andy Little was kept busy in net and produced a strong performance to keep his side in the game, although Warriors did manage to edge ahead. A third goal in the final period gave Whitley breathing room before Scott Jamieson pulled one back late on. Kestrels pushed hard with the netminder pulled in the closing stages, but Warriors held firm.

Pirates capitalise on penalties to overcome Wild

Paisley Pirates took control of their matchup with North Ayrshire Wild, recording an 8–3 win in a game shaped heavily by penalties. Wild worked hard throughout but spent long spells defending, with Pirates making full use of their opportunities — four of their goals coming with the man advantage. Caiden MacCall faced sustained pressure between the pipes, while Wild continued to push and were rewarded with two goals in the final period, showing their determination despite the scoreline.

Lynx in control on home ice against Thunder

Aberdeen Lynx delivered a composed 8–2 victory over Kilmarnock Thunder, setting the tone early with three first-period goals. With key players returning, Lynx iced a full roster and maintained a high tempo throughout the game. Thunder remained disciplined and showed resilience, scoring both of their goals while shorthanded, but were unable to shift the momentum. The game also marked a notable milestone, with 15-year-old Christopher Given making his Scottish National League debut.

Pirates complete strong double-header against Solway

Paisley Pirates followed up their Saturday result with another 8–3 win, this time over Solway Sharks SNL. The opening period was closely contested, ending 2–1, with Solway keeping pace and creating chances. However, Pirates took control in the second period, with Calum Bair extending the lead early. Solway generated more shots during that middle frame but were unable to convert, and Pirates tightened defensively in the third. Solway rotated their netminder for the final period, but there was not enough time to shift the momentum back in their favour.

Rockets deliver strong performance against Wild

Dundee Rockets closed out the weekend with a 9–1 win over North Ayrshire Wild, setting the tone early. Sean Beattie opened the scoring just 37 seconds into the game before Rockets added three more in the first period to take control. Beattie and Rio Page both recorded hat-tricks in an impressive attacking display. Wild’s only goal came from Rocco Murray in the second period, but Rockets remained composed throughout and made the most of their opportunities.

Despite a full slate of games, the standings remain unchanged — increasing the pressure heading into the final two weekends of the season. Edinburgh Capitals are now within touching distance of the league title, and any dropped points from Dundee Rockets could prove decisive in the race for top spot.
