SIH National Development Team are delighted to announce further details on the Scotland U10 sessions that will now become part of the National Development Days.
We believe this is an important step in the development of young hockey players which will ultimately feed into the existing National Teams.
The U10 sessions will be introduced this coming first NDD on the 30th October at Dumfries Ice Bowl. The first session has a check in time of 1pm at the Ice bowl and an on-ice time of 2:45pm till 4:15pm.
The intention is to provide an introduction to the Scotland programme for U10 players allowing them to understand the standards and requirements to achieve National level.
For the coaching staff it will provide an insight into the next years U12 team that we have never had before allowing them to identify talent for next year’s teams.
The Practices at this level will focus on skills development and small area individual tactics with instruction on Skating and edge work, Individual puck skills, small area stations and small area games.
Ideally we are looking for kids in the 7-9 year old bracket that will move from the U10 session onto the U12 team for selection in the next year. There will be no cuts from the U10 practices.
We will be asking each club to put forward names for this session that meet the age criteria and also that have achieved standard that fall in-line with the national programme.
You will be notified by your club if your child is eligible to attend. Emails are going out to all clubs with the Timetable which can be passed to parent.
We are really excited about this new development in the national programme which will provide a platform for future generations of Scottish Hockey Players.
The cost for this session will be £12 to be paid on the day.
