The return of Edinburgh Capitals is the standout story of the weekend as the men from Murrayfield play their first game since leaving the Elite League in 2018.
It’s a big moment for the fans of the club, who have waited patiently and now, in Fife Ice Arena, they get to see the start of a new chapter.
Steven Lynch takes his team to Kirkcaldy Kestrels in their first game of the season and it’s quite a challenge for them to come up against the current Scottish National League title holders.
Kirkcaldy are two games into their title defence, with two wins from two so far so it’s unfair to suggest they will be favourites for this one.

They welcome back Scott Jamieson into their line-up, who left Fife Flyers last week and he’s keen to hit the ice and make an immediate impact for his local team.
Elsewhere on Saturday, it’s Ayrshire versus Tayside as Kilmarnock Thunder and North Ayrshire Wild play host to the Dundee Comets and Dundee Tigers respectively.
Wild are still looking for their first win, with three defeats to their name so far this season and face a Tigers side with a win and a loss in their column.
Home advantage could be useful, but Tigers, having won in Ayrshire already against Kilmarnock Thunder in their first game, will have their sights on the points.

Thunder have Dundee Comets in the Galleon for their game in the earlier of the face offs on Saturday.
Kilmarnock edged a 5-4 game with North Ayrshire last week and with that feeling of victory still surrounding them, they’ll face their chances against the Comets.
Richard Hartmann’s side though will finish their three-game road trip with this one and although victory over Aberdeen Lynx two weeks ago was tempered with a loss in Kirkcaldy last week, they’ll be confident of claiming the points here.
On Sunday, Paisley Pirates will look to follow up their 3-1 win over North Ayrshire when they entertain Aberdeen Lynx, a team who enjoyed a win on the road at Dundee Tigers last week.
