Recreational Cup Weekend Brings Scotland’s Strongest Teams to Dundee

The SIH Recreational Section heads to Dundee Ice Arena this weekend for the 2026 Recreational Cup, with 10 teams competing across two days at the highest level of recreational hockey in Scotland.

Teams have been divided into two pools of five, with each side playing four round-robin matches before the competition progresses into the semi-finals and final. Across the weekend, a total of 23 games will be played as clubs compete for one of the biggest honours in the SIH Recreational calendar.

As the highest level within the SIH Recreational tournament structure, the Cup is expected to deliver a strong standard of hockey throughout the weekend, with every result carrying added importance.

While there is no promotion available at this level, there is still plenty on the line. The bottom-placed team from each group will be relegated to the 2027 Recreational Plate competition, adding extra pressure throughout the round-robin stage.

Several sides arrive in Dundee with recent silverware and strong tournament pedigree. Edinburgh Knights recently lifted the Recreational Knockout Cup after defeating the Warriors in the final, while Edinburgh Lions claimed the Dumfries Tournament title in March with victory over the Paisley Blackhawks.

Dundee Michelin also return as defending Cup champions after defeating the Blackhawks in the 2025 final.
