SIH clubs give backing to creation of new National Governing Body

Scottish Ice Hockey is delighted to confirm that its clubs voted in favour of establishing a new National Governing Body on Thursday.

The draft set of Memorandum and Articles of Association have been formally approved and will now be forwarded to Ice Hockey UK to be signed off.

The documents will subsequently be submitted to sportscotland to progress SIH’s application to be established as a standalone NGB.

SIH chairman, David Hand, said: “We’re delighted with the outcome of the vote, which was overwhelmingly in favour of creating a new NGB.

“We can now move forward as a stronger and more professional organisation that is fit for purpose and united in its cause of making Scottish Ice Hockey stronger.

“The consultation meetings proved to be particularly useful, and the new M&As contain numerous suggestions put forward by our members.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Willie Dunn, Jim Paterson and John Colley for their work on the sub-committee and the members for their support.

“An additional word of thanks goes to Andrew Miller from the English Ice Hockey Association, who also served on the sub-committee and helped to draft the M&As.”
