SIH co-opts Thomson onto board as Senior Chair

Scottish Ice Hockey has co-opted Jamie Thomson onto its board as Senior Chair.

He replaces Dundee Comets’ manager Rab Brown who recently stepped down from the role.

Thomson is currently part of the coaching set-up at Solway Sharks and is head coach for Scotland’s U17 team.

With the Sharks’ senior team playing exclusively in NIHL competitions this season, Thomson will bring a detached viewpoint to the SIH role.

“I’m delighted to be joining the SIH board,” he said. “I’ve been involved in hockey the majority of my life and never been one to shy away from a challenge.

“It has been clear for a while that we need to start looking forward when it comes to senior hockey in Scotland.

“It’s vitally important that we focus on having a stable league and look to push the level of that product up as much as possible over the coming years.

“This will give the senior players and juniors coming through the system competitive hockey for years to come.

“I’ll do my best to use my knowledge and experience to help as much as I can. I’m looking forward to getting started.”

Thomson will undertake the new role until the next SIH annual general meeting when the clubs will have the opportunity to vote on the matter.

SIH would like to take this opportunity to thank Rab Brown for his hard work and dedication during his time in the position.
