Scottish Ice Hockey is delighted with the latest developments regarding the potential reopening of indoor venues in Scotland on 14th September.
Although we remain on a slightly different timescale to our colleagues in England, we believe the news is a positive step on the road to resuming our sport.
SIH continues to liaise with partners from across the UK with a view to getting our sport up-and-running again when it safe to do so.
We will be conducting further discussions over the weekend with regards to producing a revised road map based on the latest advice issued by the Scottish Government.
It is hoped that we will be in a position to publish this information at some point next week, although this is subject to change if circumstances conspire against us.
We are committed to advancing forward from phase two of our previously published Return to Play plan in line with the guidance provided by the appropriate authorities.
SIH Chairman David Hand said: “We’re pleased with this latest news as it offers hope that we are moving closer to a return to action.
“In addition to the discussions regarding a revised road map, we will also be organising meetings with all the clubs regarding league structure and fixtures as soon as possible.
“We will liaise with the clubs to get an understanding of the individual challenges they face with their respective rinks, but we hope to be able to get some teams playing again by mid-October.”
