SNL round-up: Kirkcaldy Kestrels build from the back as summer signings start

Kirkcaldy Kestrels have confirmed their first two signings ahead of the 2019/20 Scottish National League (SNL) season.

Netminders Davey Jackson and Euan Simpson will once again battle for the starting role between the pipes after enjoying solid campaigns last time around.

Jackson has previously iced with the likes of Dundee Stars and Edinburgh Capitals, and also had a spell with Invicta Dynamos in NIHL South.

He joined Kirkcaldy from Dundee Tigers in 2018 and went on to post a .906 save percentage in the SNL last season.

Simpson progressed through the club’s junior system and has enjoyed considerable success with Fife Falcons in the U20 league over the past couple of seasons.

He has represented Scotland frequently at junior level, taking part in Conference Weekend in all age groups.

The 19-year-old gained plenty of experience in the SNL last term, recording a .900 save percentage as the Kestrels secured third place in the standings.

Elsewhere in the SNL, Murrayfield Racers have been busy building their roster over the past few weeks, securing the services of three returnees and a new signing.

Defensemen Rihards Grigors, Scott Geddes and Ethan Reid have all agreed another season with the club, while fellow blueliner Marty Simpson has left Kirkcaldy to join the Racers.
