The Dundee Ice Arena hosted an exciting Cup Tournament last weekend for the recreational section of Scottish ice hockey. A total of 23 games were played.
In the semi-finals, the Irvine Flyers defeated the Paisley Blackhawks 4-1 to book their place in the final. Dundee Michelin IHC also advanced by edging out Highlanders IHC 2-1 in a tight contest.
The final was a rematch between the Flyers and Michelin IHC. This time, Dundee Michelin IHC prevailed convincingly with a 4-1 victory to lift the Cup.
Special awards were handed out at the conclusion of the tournament.
- Craig Johnstone of the champions Michelin IHC won Best Defence.
- Bruce Tait of Highlanders IHC was named Best Forward.
- Andrew Lobban of Irvine Flyers earned the Netminder of the Tournament award.
- The Fair Play award went to Paisley Blackhawks.
- Top Point Scorer was Gary Hughes of Edinburgh Lions.
It was a fantastic weekend of recreational ice hockey in Dundee, with the Michelin IHC team emerging as worthy champions. Congratulations to all the teams and award winners!
