WEEKEND PREVIEW: League title too close to call

Get ready for an exciting and nail-biting final weekend of the ice hockey league, as the top two teams battle it out for the title.

Aberdeen is currently sitting on top of the league table, three points clear of Capitals, who have a double header to play, giving them the chance to snatch the title.

The two teams have already faced each other three times this season, with Aberdeen coming out on top in two of those games.

Aberdeen coach Jordan Leyden said, “As disappointing as it was not to get the results at the weekend I believe we played pretty well in both games.

Looking at this weekend, what an advert it is for the league! We obviously want to come out the other end with the result going our way, which would be amazing for our loyal fans to be a part of. For a neutral looking at the league, you’d be hard pushed to find one more competitive and as exciting as this season has been.”

The upcoming game between the two is already sold out, but fans can still catch the action through the Lynx YouTube channel, LynxTV.

Of course there has been nothing certain in this league this year and there are a couple of other scenarios which, theoretically could see the Paisley Pirates lift the league title. Right now it looks like a two horse race but no result should be taken for granted in the 22/23 Scottish National League. One thing is clear though. If the Lynx win tonight in Aberdeen they will be crowned 22/23 League champions.

The final placements this weekend will determine the lineup for the quarter-finals of the Playoffs. Teams will play a home and away game ahead of the the Playoff weekend on April 8th & 9th at Murrayfield.

North Ayrshire Wild will also be taking on Kilmarnock Thunder today in Auchenharvie before travelling tomorrow to play the Capitals at Murrayfield.

If Capitals win today then their game against North Ayrshire Wild tomorrow will be critical, the league really could be decided by the last game of the season. It’s definately going to be an exciting weekend of ice hockey, with so much at stake and so many teams fighting for their spot in the playoffs.

It’s been an incredibly close season, with any one of the teams able to take a win on the night.
