Lowland Raiders Capture “The Bowl” Tournament Crown

Lowland Raiders – Winners of the Bowl 2024

This past weekend, Dumfries hosted the hard-fought “The Bowl” recreational ice hockey tournament, providing a great weekend of hockey action. With 10 teams and 23 tightly contested games across two days, players gave it their all.

The semifinals saw the Lossiemouth Jets edge past the Highlanders IHC B 5-1, while the Lowland Raiders grinded out a 6-2 win over the Coatbridge Redwings.

This set the stage for the final between the Jets and Raiders.

In the championship match, it was the Raiders who kept their opponents at bay, claiming a 4-1 victory over the Jets to capture the tournament crown.

Awards for the weekend saw Jake Hyslop of the Highlanders take home top points honors, while Gary MacColl of the Mariners was named top goalie for his solid play.

Conor Harper of the Jets bagged Top Forward and Chris Jackson of the champion Raiders Top Defence. The Lossiemouth Jets received the fair play award for their disciplined and sportsmanlike conduct.

The games featured two 15-minute periods with a running clock, ensuring a fast pace and continuous action. With an enjoyable weekend from start to finish, the Lowland Raiders emerged as champions of this recreational hockey tournament.
